Places, where a conflict could occur are more common than we would
like to think possible. And you are going to try to travel around
different countries on varying kinds of transport. Then it is highly
unlikely that you can by pass a region where there are not any kind
of conflicts that may be going on. Even so, a war or battles will
only prevent travel in and out of a particular region, where as the
remainder of the country may be traveled in.
No matter how much you think of this as a joke, the beach in which
you are lying back and enjoying the time away from work, and soaking
in the sand may and could become a battleground by the next day, no
lie. There are reasons for conflicts, unrest with the people, the
social and economical situation of a country can have a dramatic
affect on these situations. It may change at moments notice.
Keeping all of this in perspective:
Are there any kinds of conflicts in that
particular region? Are there any areas that can be traveled safely.
Would it be safe if I were to enter certain regions that are may
otherwise blocked off to tourists?
Prior to going to anywhere, do some research on the country you plan
to visit.
Learn about the crime rate, the standards of hospitals and their
level of care, and other information that you feel you will need.
Things to remember, and bring in order to
be informed
- A radio, just to keep on top of the
information at home, and where you are traveling.
- Keep an eye out for televisions just to stay in touch with what is
happening around you.
- If at all possible, make it a point to visit an embassy in the
country that you are visiting just incase any problems were to
arise.
- Get to know the local people, and they may bestow upon very
important/vital information about the other regions around them, and
their situations, and if it is safe. Many countries provide advice
free of charge for their citizens as a precautionary measure.
Common sense comes in to play in these situations. You will be
asking for trouble, if you are always trekking areas you already
know that fighting has been taking place. Anything could happen,
when you are not paying attention to warnings, or when you are being
careless.
